International Students

Dear Applicant,

The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, or CUHK Shenzhen, is established officially on March 21, 2014, approved by the Ministry of Education (MOE). The university is supervised under the “Regulations on Chinese-International Joint Universities” and led by a Governing Board with members from both Hong Kong and Mainland China. CUHK Shenzhen offers extensive English curricula in all programmes, while students with interest in learning Chinese can choose to study Chinese language courses with a suitable level. All CUHK Shenzhen students successfully completing the offered programmes in Shenzhen will receive Bachelor’s degrees from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

I. Admission Requirements

General Requirements

Foreign passport holder from a country or region other than Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan.

Entrance Requirements

Applications should possess any of the following qualifications:

Applicants should have attained an acceptable level of proficiency in English. Below are the minimum required scores or grades for some of the more common international examinations.

III. How to apply

To apply, please submit copies of the following documents to the Admissions Office during the application period:


Where a document is not in English, it must be accompanied by a certified English translation by a sworn translator, court translator, authorized public translator, certified translator, expert translator or official translator. (The original certificates/academic transcripts will normally be required for verification upon admission)

VI. Scholarships

All international applicants will automatically be considered for the admission scholarship along with admission decisions. 

Consideration will be based on applicants’ English level, high school academic performance and an interview. Candidates may be asked to submit further supporting materials. The scholarship will be provided for 4 years, as long as entry scholarship owners can keep their GPA above 3.0.
